An Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) who has been recognized is granted certain customs treatment. The customs treatment provided is either general and/or specific in nature.

General customs treatment is granted to all types of operators, including but not limited to:

  1. Being recognized as a partner of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise;
  2. Receiving special services in the form of services provided by a Client Manager;
  3. Receiving priority to participate in new programs initiated by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise; and/or
  4. Receiving consultation and/or customs assistance outside of the customs office's working hours.

Specific customs treatment is granted based on the type of operator, including but not limited to:

  1. Receiving the designation of a low-risk company;
  2. Document review and/or physical inspection based on risk management in accordance with applicable regulations;
  3. Priority for customs procedure simplification;
  4. Priority for receiving customs services;
  5. Special customs services for the smooth movement of goods in and out of Customs Areas at loading and/or unloading ports, taking risk management into account; and/or
  6. Facilitation provided under customs regulations and other relevant legislation.

In addition to the certain customs treatments mentioned above, AEOs also receive treatment in the form of:

  1. Facilitation agreed upon with foreign customs administrations under a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA); and/or
  2. Facilitation provided by government agencies in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
