On October 6, 2025, in Osaka, Japan, the Mutual Recognition of the Authorized Economic Operator Programs (MRA AEO) was signed between the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) and the Japan Customs Administration.
The signing was conducted by the Director General of Customs and Excise, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Djaka Budhi Utama, and the Director General of Japan Customs, Mr. Teraoka Mitsuhiro, as a manifestation of the commitment of both administrations to mutually recognize the AEO program and its validation results to strengthen trust, efficiency, and security in the international supply chain, particularly by facilitating trade between Indonesia and Japan.
The MRA on AEO with Japan is the sixth MRA signed by the DJBC, following MRAs with South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, ASEAN, and Australia.
With this MRA on AEO, Indonesian AEO companies exporting to Japan will receive benefits including reduced risk and priority cargo clearance in the event of disruptions to international trade. Similarly, when Japanese AEO companies export to Indonesia, the MRA on AEO with Japan is expected to increase Indonesia's AEO competitiveness on the global stage, considering that Japan is one of Indonesia's main AEO partners, both in terms of import origin and export destination.
